Yes, we have a dog, a black lab called Jessie, otherwise known as the Jesster, Jessie-Bear, J-Bear, the Wee Fiend, etc, etc. If you have a dog, I’m sure you have nicknames for them too.
We got Jessie in 2019, a few months after we lost our beloved Molly at the age of fourteen. Molly’s Kennel Club name was Frewlings Free Flip, or Flipping Heck, more like. Jessie’s Kennel Club name is Frewlings Diamond Black. Yes, we got them both from the same breeder.
I occasionally joke that Molly had the looks and not the brains, and Jessie has neither, but that’s not true, Jessie is a looker and is very clever, and like Molly she is incredibly greedy – but, hey, she is a lab. Unlike Molly, she isn’t too keen on going into water and isn’t too keen on going on walks. You just had to walk into the kitchen and Molly would follow thinking you were going to put her lead on. Jessie, on the other paw, opens one eye from her regular, curled-up position on the settee and doesn’t move at the prospect of “walkies!”
However, she does enjoy long walks when she gets going and has even bagged a Munro or two.
